Indiana Department of Labor Investigates Claim of Asbestos Exposure

October 8th, 2007 · 1 Comment

The Indiana Department of Labor announced recently that it will open an investigation into claims that workers were exposed to asbestos during a renovation job at Central High School in Muncie.  Besides the claim that the workers were exposed, the DOL in Indiana is also hearing claims that students at the school were also exposed, according to a story published on The Star Press Web site.

“According to a DOL notice of alleged safety or health hazards, an asbestos complaint was filed with the agency on May 14.

The notice, which The Star Press obtained from the school system through public access laws, complains that:

  • Employees of contractors were not provided results of air sampling for asbestos.
  • Employees of contractors were not allowed to observe air monitoring for asbestos.
  • Air sample results provided by the school’s representative were falsified. For example, results were provided for April 16 and 17, but no samples were collected on either of those days.”

Hopefully, no one will wind up seriously injured as a result of this issue.  If you have been harmed due to asbestos exposure, contact an asbestos lawyer at Williams Kherkher today to schedule a free initial consultation.  You can do so either by clicking on the link provided or by calling us toll-free at (866) 950-9000.
