Dana Corp. Agrees to Settle Asbestos Lawsuits

October 31st, 2007 · No Comments

In an effort to allegedly avoid any further costs related to litigation, Dana Corp., an auto parts supplier based out of Toledo, Ohio, has agreed to settle 7,500 asbestos claims for $2 million dollars. A hearing date on the settlement is tentatively scheduled for November 15.

As of June 30, 150,000 asbestos lawsuits were pending against Dana, who recently filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 in 2006. According to official court documents, only around 7% of these claims involve cancer or mesothelioma.

If all claimants can provide proof to support their claims, the company expects to resolve around 7% of the mesothelioma lawsuits and 4% of the other cancer claims. Dana believes the remaining claims will be unaffected and bass through its bankruptcy. For more information, please contact the Mesothelioma Lawyers at Williams Kherkher by calling 1.800.220.9341.
