Two studies are now going to be conducted in Minnesota to determine why there is such a high incidence of mesothelioma in the northeastern part of the state.
In Minnesota, they know that asbestos has been linked to mesothelioma but they’re not sure if the incidence of mesothelioma in the state is linked to the taconite fibers found in the taconite mines. This would help to explain the unusually high occurrence of mesothelioma across the iron ore industry.
