A British carpenter with asbestosis, pleural plaques, and pleural thickening, which are all linked to asbestos exposure, has filed a case for compensation up to 200,000 pounds.
Mr. Alfred Brett is now claiming damages from Bovis Lend Lease Holdings, of Harrow, and AXA UK Plc, of London, whom he blames for his condition. He claims he was exposed to asbestos when he worked for Bovis Lend Lease Holdings between the years of 1974 and 1982 when he worked on various job sites. Most of the sites where he worked involved refurbishment which often involved removing asbestos radiator cases, pipework, ductwork, and ceiling tiles. While removing these objects, Mr. Brett inhaled the dust which contained asbestos fibers.
This is just a preliminary case. He says he might later file more charges should his asbestosis deteriorate into mesothelioma.
