Crews are now working exceedingly diligently to clean up a building contaminated with asbestos in downtown Moscow (Washington).
The building has been evacuated since asbestos was found in material scraped off of the ceiling. This has forced the closure of some offices including a local radio station. The radio station was back up and running but is not on the air 24 hours a day.
The station manager said he had concerns about asbestos when the station moved into the building. When the renovators started scraping stuff off the ceiling, the manager was more concerned particularly when the contractors said they hadn’t anything tested. Material was sent off to a Seattle lab revealing that the popcorn ceiling had 4 times the required level to be considered asbestos carrying.
