The health agency said that they now know that a quarter of the workers were employed in mines for less than a year. Also there was over a quarter of the workers that worked in the mine for over 30 years. Most of the cases of mesothelioma occurred with the miners that worked more than 30 years. There was a handful of cases of workers that developed the lung condition after 60 years.
The mesothelioma cases showed up with workers that were employed at six of the seven active mines. The only exception was Inland Steel which is now called Minorca.
