America’s Watchdog, a consumer advocacy group, has recently opened a Mesothelioma Victims Center. When a family member of a staff member was diagnosed with mesothelioma, America’s Watchdog began to research the rare and lethal form of cancer. Upon learning how difficult it was to get social security permanent disability or veteran’s benefits, the group decided to create a center to help mesothelioma’s victims.
The center helps victims to get their veteran’s benefits, the best possible healthcare, legal representation, and counseling to help with the difficulties of a life with mesothelioma. Groups at risk for mesothelioma include members of the United States Navy, ship yard workers, automotive repair specialists, construction workers, and plumbers. Previous members of the United States army, coast guard, air force, and marines are also at elevated risk for asbestos exposure.
