Philadelphia Jury Awards Large Verdict in Mesothelioma Trial

April 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Richard Scherr died after suffering from mesothelioma. He was 71 years of age at the time of his death. He was exposed to asbestos while working for PFK-Mark III, Inc.

PFK is a construction company that builds water and sewage treatment facilities. The company used asbestos material while building such facilities.

Scherr’s wife Constance and his nine children filed a case against Garlock Sealing Technologies, Fairbanks Morse and Durabla at the Philadelphia Commons Pleas court. The jury awarded Scherr’s wife and estate $8.6 million as compensatory damages against Garlock, Fairbanks Morse and Durabal. All 3 had settled for an unknown amount after the damages phase.
