On April 17, 2008, Mr. George Geisler filed a lawsuit in Illinois, claiming 59 defendants were responsible for his diagnosis of mesothelioma – companies such as CBS, Ford Motor Company, General Electric, General Motors, Goodyear, Honeywell International, Ingersoll-Rand, John Crane, Owens-Illinois, and Phillips Electrical.
Geisler had been a machinist since 1978. In that capacity he worked at various locations in Utah and Illinois. Geisler claims that during the course of his employment of repairing automobiles, both at the premises and during repairs at home, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested or otherwise absorbed, asbestos fibers emanating from certain products. The products contained asbestos when alternatives were available.
Geisler claims that the disease has disabled and disfigured him , as well as rendered him incapable of employment. He is seeking compensation of $250,000 in damages for negligence, in addition to compensatory damages and punitive damages.
