Mesothelioma Lawyer

On May 8, 2008, Cynthia Leigh Chason has filed a case in Galveston County District Court in Texas against Marathon Petroleum Company, BASF Corporation, Todd Shipyards and other businesses for wrongfully causing her to suffer from mesothelioma.

Her father Loy Garner was employed by Marathon Petroleum Company from 1969 through 1979. Before that Garner, worked at Smith Douglass in Texas City from 1961 to 1969. In addition, he did some short-term contracting work in the 1970s for BASF in Freeport, Todd Shipyard in Galveston and Monsanto in Texas City.

Garner was required to handle asbestos-containing products, as well as machinery containing asbestos. Garner alleges that in the course of his work, her father was exposed to asbestos fibers. This was brought home and through household contact with her father she was exposed to, inhaled, ingested and absorbed asbestos fibers. This led to her developing mesothelioma.
