The violent storms that have raged through the country this spring and summer have left a great deal of destruction in their wake. The people left to pick up the pieces are often those who lost everything as the storm passed. Although clean up is crucial to the towns that were hit by the damaging weather, it is important to be aware of the possibility of asbestos exposure while handling building materials.
Homes built before the 1980s may still contain asbestos materials. Anyone involved in the clean up of debris or building materials should be aware of this risk and take every precaution to ensure that asbestos fibers are not inhaled or ingested.
